CH. IBOHAL INSTITUTE (SCHOOL) FOR SPECIAL CHILDREN
Ch. Ibohal Institute (School) for Special Children is a Non-Profit Secular Organization with Special School & Boarding Facilities. Fully equipped with the School Session, providing Special Education it was started in 1981 and has been working successfully since then, under the sponsorship of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, New Delhi.
We believe that the warmth, love and encouragement these children experience in our school environment here will bring out their hidden potential and help develop their personality. A bright, stimulating and attractive learning environment has been created for these special children, particularly in high standards of cleanliness and maintenance. Emphasis is given in activities of daily living skills like brushing, dressing, grooming skills etc. Each classroom has display boards to exhibit the creative work of the students.
Every child that walks in through our doors is seen by one of our experienced consultants and provided with screening and an intervention programme that is carried out by a team of professionals including educational and medical specialists, a psychologist, speech therapist and several remedial teachers. Parents are empowered with the necessary skills and knowledge to care for their special child at home.
ODIC provides a safe, supportive and normalizing environment for individuals labelled as "Substance Users" in the community, especially among the youth who are isolated in society, and to whom even sheltered employment settings are not meeting their needs. It provides an atmosphere of acceptance where individuals have a sense of belonging and grow in self-worth, dignity and self-respect. It emphasizes on helping individuals feel autonomous and having the capacity to make decisions.
An important outcome is these individuals develop a sense of usefulness, increase their feelings of well-being, and minimize their risk of serious health problems that may have led to hospitalization.
Target Group: Vulnerable young population prone to substance use and using substances in select geographical areas.

We train our students in daily living skills, who are unable to do their daily chores, like eating, dressing, grooming, and also toileting etc. The main purpose of the training programme is to infuse confidence in them, to make them feel that, they are quite efficient and can attend to their daily needs with more confidence then ever as the ordinary children of their age group and move in the society with some satisfaction facing challenges. Training is also provided to the children in Self grooming and vocational training like candle making, chalk-making, doll-making, paper-cup making, card making, flower making, pot painting, agarbati and gardening etc
